Kilimo. Leading the way to a water-positive future

Why We Support This Project

Climate change is transforming the way we reliably access water.
— PNUD
Half of the world’s population experiences severe water scarcity for at least one month each year
— World Economic Forum

How It Works

Kilimo is an irrigation management platform for both intensive and extensive agriculture. By leveraging satellite imagery, climate data, and field data, it recommends optimal irrigation practices for each crop. This improves yields by up to 30% and enhances water use efficiency by 70%.

  • Primary SDG
Goal 6. Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

  • Target SDG Addressed
6.4. By 2030, substantially increase water-use efficiency across all sectors and ensure sustainable withdrawals and supply of freshwater to address water scarcity and substantially reduce the number of people suffering from water scarcity.

  • Type of Impact
    Mitigation, Regeneration.

  • Impact Measurement
    Liters of water saved.

"Our 'Irrigation Academy,' the largest educational space for farmers in the Spanish-speaking world, has already trained over 200,000 farmers in efficient water use, free of charge”
